Racial Justice

We lead efforts to help Boston plan for and deal with catastrophes and slow-moving disasters, like persistent racial and economic inequality.

Our Racial justice initiatives aim to make sure all of us have access and support to thrive from childhood to retirement. We're focused on social and economic resilience in a City affected by historic and current divisions of race and class and solutions for the future.

Racial Equity and Leadership Training

CITYWIDE TRAINING IN RACIAL EQUITY AND LEADERSHIP

The Racial Equity and Leadership (REAL) training is a collaboration with Health Resources in Action (HRiA), to train the City’s 18,000 staff. This was prompted by the 2019 executive order on Resilience and Racial Equity. The REAL training series provides foundational knowledge and skills that mobilize the City of Boston employees to collectively advance racial equity.

TRAINING STEPS
  • Step 1: eLearning session about overcoming unconscious bias
  • Step 2: Session about laying the foundation for racial equity
  • Step 3: Session about transforming our systems
