IN-SIGHT Boston: artist talk

The result of a community collaboration, this participatory exhibition brings together a multitude of voices, personal accounts, sounds, and visual arts.

December 8, 2017
Event Date2017-12-08T18:30:00

This exhibit features projects led by former Boston AIR artist Rashin Fahandej. They explore the issues of “access” and “equality." Rashin's projects focused on a critique of incarceration policies and their racial imbalances. The projects used various media and they celebrate the power of groups to create social change.

A Father’s Lullaby highlights the role of men raising children. It also underlines the absence of fathers due to the racial disparities of mass incarceration. This project invites the community to record their voices, share their ideas, and sing a lullaby to raise awareness for this issue. They're asked to imagine policies that are based on support and not criminalization.

This exhibition invites the community to share their stories in recorded conversations with Rashin (during tea hours) at IBA Boston on the following dates:

  • Monday Dec 11, 2017, from 1 - 5 p.m.
  • Monday Dec 18, 2017, from 1 - 5 p.m.
  • Artist Talk: Friday Dec 8, 2017, 6:30 p.m.
