There are four ways to make an appeal.
Before you get started online
For you to make an appeal, you need to give the City the following information:
- your name and mailing address
- the nature of your dispute
- your registration and plate number
- the state where your car is registered
- the number for your parking ticket, or tickets, and
- any supporting evidence if you have it, like photos.
Complete the form online
You can fill out and submit the Constituent Complaint Form. We will send you an email receipt immediately.
Wait for the City's decision
We will mail you our decision in your case. You should get a letter from us within seven to 10 business days.
Keep in mind- If you appeal your ticket and we deny your appeal, you must pay your ticket within 10 days or request a hearing. To request a hearing with the Office of the Parking Clerk, call 617-635-4410.
- If we schedule an in-person hearing for a violation, you may not receive a letter back from us with the hearing date for several weeks.
Create a letter for your appeal
You need to send a letter to the City that includes:
- your name and mailing address
- the nature of your dispute
- your registration and plate number
- the state where your car is registered

You need to meet certain requirements
To use the video call option, you must meet one of these requirements:
- you are not a Massachusetts resident and your vehicle is not registered in Massachusetts
- you have a handicap placard, or
- you are over the age of 65.
Schedule a time for your hearing
Send an email to OPCVideoChat@boston.gov that includes:
- your name and mailing address
- your registration and plate number
- the state where your vehicle is registered
- the parking ticket violation number or numbers
- the nature of your dispute, and any supporting evidence if you have it (like photos)
- if you have a handicap placard, please send in the handicap placard number, and
- if you are over the age of 65, please send in your driver’s license number.
We'll contact you to let you know when your hearing takes place. If we schedule a hearing for a violation, you may not receive a letter back from us with the hearing date for several weeks.
