Landmark Study Reports

Study Reports are produced for all properties considered for Landmarking. After the BLC approves the documents, they provide historical background and guidelines for future change.

A Study Report outlines the historic and architectural significance of a property or district. It also include proposed Standards and Criteria for design review. The Study Report can recommend landmarking exterior and interior elements, or both. The Boston Landmarks Commission (BLC) uses these reports to decide whether or not a property or district should be designated a landmark.

When the BLC does designate a Landmark, the Commission uses the approved Study Report's Standards and Criteria as guidelines to evaluate changes to landmarks. Those with asterisks* include interior designation. Please note: pending landmarks, subject to accelerated design review, may have some interior designations as well. The Study Reports below are listed in alphabetical order.
