Digital Literacy Initiative (DigLit)
An initiative designed to increase the digital skills and resiliency of Boston residents.
Digital Literacy is the ability to use technology to find, test, organize, create, and communicate information. This skill has proven to be critical to workplace success. The Digital Literacy Initiative (DigLit), launched in partnership with World Education, aims to provide Boston residents with the digital literacy skills they need to advance in the workforce.
DigLit supported the digital literacy programming of the Boston Adult Literacy Initiative (ALI), a cohort of 25 programs serving over 3,000 Boston residents. The cohort evaluated and addressed their digital literacy needs through:

coaching,

one-on-one technical assistance, and

financial support.
DigLit was made possible by funding through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). In 2023, the project was awarded an additional $1 million from Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley’s Community Project Funding. This funding will be used to expand the project and support evaluation of the initiative.

Needs Assessment
Use the Needs Assessment to identify opportunities for integrating digital literacy capacity.
Action Plan Tool
Once the needs are identified, programs can use the Action Plan Tool to articulate the steps and resources necessary to address the areas of need.
