    Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the amount of One Million Six Hundred Thousand Dollars ($1,600,000.00) in the form of a grant for the Safe and Successful Youth Initiative- Amendment FY18 and FY19 awarded by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services to be administered by the Police Department. The grant will fund a comprehensive, inter-agency strategy that connects law enforcement, employment, education, public health and youth development agencies to reduce violence in the Commonwealth.

    Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the amount of One Hundred Fifteen Thousand Dollars ($115,000.00) in the form a grant for the FFY17 Violence Against Women Act STOP grant, awarded by the United States Department of Justice, passed through the MA Executive Office of Public Safety and Security to be administered by the Police Department. The grant would fund one full-time BPD Civilian Domestic Violence Advocate position and a portion of another.

    Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept  the amount of Thirty Thousand Dollars ($30,000.00) in the form of a grant for the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force Program, awarded by the United States Department of Justice to be administered by the Police Department. The grant will fund surveillance vehicle(s) for the Boston Police Department Fugitive Unit.

    Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the amount of One Million Seventy-Five Thousand Nine Hundred Fifteen Dollars and Forty-One Cents ($1,075,915.41) in the form of a grant for the Charles R. Shannon,  Jr. Community Safety Initiative, awarded by the MA Executive Office of Public Safety and Security to be administered by the Police Department. The grant will fund regional and multi-disciplinary approaches to combat gang violence through coordinated prevention and intervention, law enforcement, prosecution, and reintegration type programs.

    Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the amount of One Million Seven Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($1,750,000.00) in the form of a grant for the FY18 State Training Grant, awarded by the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services to be administered by the Boston Fire Department. The grant will fund the BFD Training Division for FY18. This State earmark supplements training, supplies and materials for the Boston Fire Training Division and Academy.

  6. Docket #0615

    Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the amount of Two Hundred Thirty-Seven Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($237,500.00) in the form of a grant for the FY18 State HazMat Grant, awarded by the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services to be administered by the Fire Department. The grant will fund training, supplies and staff expenses for the Hazardous Materials Team.

    These matters were sponsored by the Mayor, and Dockets #0135 and #0141 were referred to the Committee on January 24, 2018; Docket #0233 was referred to the Committee on January 31, 2018; Docket #0284 was referred to the committee on February 14, 2018; and Dockets #0613 and #0615 were referred to the Committee on April 25, 2018  .
