City Council meeting

The City Council is holding a meeting on March 9 at 12 p.m.

All City Council meetings are held at 12 p.m. (noon) in the Christopher A. Iannella Chamber on the fifth floor of Boston City Hall, unless otherwise noted. All meetings are open to the public and are also available on Xfinity Channel 8, RCN 82, Fios 964, and livestream via City Council TV.

        0346    Message and order for your approval an order authorizing the City of 

        Boston to submit to the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) 

        Statement of Interest for its Accelerated Repair Program for the following 

        schools: the Warren Prescott, Haley Pilot School, Curley K 8 School Lower 

        Building, Henderson K12 Inclusion School Upper Campus, Ohrenberger 

        School, and the English High School. The Statements of Interest describe 

        and explain the deficiencies and the priority category for which the City of 

        Boston may be invited to apply to the MSBA Accelerated Repair grant 

        program in the future.

        0347    Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the 

        amount of Two Hundred Sixty Six Thousand Five Hundred Dollars 

        ($266,500.00) in the form of a grant for the FY22 Local Cultural Council 

        Program, awarded by the Massachusetts Cultural Council to be 

        administered by the Mayor’s Office of Arts & Culture. The grant will fund 

        innovation arts, humanities and interpretive sciences programming that 

        enhance the quality of life in our city.

        0348    Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the 

        amount of Two Hundred Thirty Seven Thousand Five Hundred Dollars 

        ($237,500.00) in the form of a grant for the FY22 HazMat Earmark, 

        awarded by the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services to be 

        administered by the Fire Department. The grant will fund decontamination 

        equipment, vehicle and maintenance expenses for the Hazard Response 

        Team at Boston Fire Department.

        0349    Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the 

        amount of One Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($150,000.00) in the form 

        of grant, for the FY22 COVID 19 SA/DV Trust Fund, awarded by the 

        Department of Public Health to be administered by the Police Department. 

        The grant will fund two full time Domestic Violence advocates who will 

        work with social service agency partners at the BPHC Family Justice 

        Center.

        0350    Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the 

        amount of Forty Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($40,500.00) in the form 

        of a grant, for the Adopt A Statue Endowment Fund, awarded by the Boston 

        Foundation to be administered by the Mayor’s Office of Arts and Culture. 

        The grant will fund the care and maintenance of the John Boyle O’Reilly 

        sculpture by Daniel Chester French.

        0351    Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the 

        amount of Thirty Six Thousand Two Hundred Fifty Dollars ($36,250.00) in 

        the form of a grant, for the Dialogue to Action, awarded by the Boston 

        Redevelopment Authority to be administered by the Office of Resiliency & 

        Racial Equity. The grant will fund programmatic activities to deepen 

        participants’ understanding of racism, in historical and present day forms 

        and foster a sense of agency to change the system through actions at 

        individual, interpersonal or systemic levels.

        0352    Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the 

        amount of Twenty Eight Thousand Dollars and Thirteen Cents ($28,000.13) 

        in the form of a grant, for the FY21 Violence Against Women Act STOP 

        grant, awarded by the United States Department of Justice, passed through 

        the MA Executive Office of Public Safety & Security, to be administered by 

        the Police Department. The grant will fund a Civilian Domestic Violence 

        Advocate who provides services for victims in Jamaica Plain, East Boston 

        and Charlestown.

        0353    Message and order for the confirmation of the reappointment of Guale 

        Valdez, as a member of the Boston Public Health Commission’s Board of 

        Health for a term expiring on January 15, 2025.

        0259    An Ordinance Amending City of Boston Code, Ordinances, Chapter XV, 

        Section X and Establishing the Boston Fair Chance Act.

        0272    Message and order for your approval an order to reduce the FY22 

        appropriation for the Reserve for Collective bargaining by Two Million 

        Sixteen Thousand Four Hundred Nine Dollars ($2,016,409.00) to provide 

        funding for various departments for FY22 increases contained within the 

        collective bargaining agreements between the City of Boston and SENA.

        0273    Message and orders for a supplemental appropriation order for various 

        departments for FY22 in the amount of Two Million Sixteen Thousand Four 

        Hundred Nine Dollars ($2,016,409.00) to cover the FY22 cost items 

        contained within the collective bargaining agreements between the City of 

        Boston and SENA. The terms of the contracts are October 1, 2020 through 

        September 30, 2023. The major provisions of the contacts include base 

        wage increases of 2%, 1.5%, and 2% to be given in October of each fiscal 

        year of the contract term.
