Boston Traffic Advisory for August 5 - 7

Celebrate car-free Open Newbury Street this Sunday!

Newbury Street in Boston’s Back Bay, between Berkeley Street and Massachusetts Avenue, will be closed to traffic on Sunday, August 7, 2016, from 10 AM to 6 PM, for Open Newbury Street, a one day car-free event.  Additional street closures for the event include Exeter Street from Commonwealth Avenue to Newbury Street; Fairfield Street from Boylston Street to Newbury Street; and Gloucester Street from Commonwealth Avenue to Newbury Street.  All other cross streets along Newbury Street will remain open. 

Temporary “No Stopping Boston Police Special Event Sunday” parking restrictions will be in effect on both sides of Newbury Street, between Berkeley Street and Massachusetts Avenue. 

Other upcoming events:

Saturday, August 6

  • Roxbury Street, Roxbury, will be closed to traffic between #205 and #147 Roxbury Street, from 12 Noon to 8 PM, for Soul in the Square.  Temporary “Tow Zone No Stopping Boston Police Special Event Saturday” parking restrictions will be in effect on both sides of Roxbury Street, between Malcolm X. Boulevard and Centre Street.
  • Eustis Street, Roxbury, will be closed to traffic between Magazine and Hampton Streets, from 9 AM to 5 PM, for a neighborhood event.
  • Montmorenci Avenue, East Boston, will be closed to traffic between #2 and #76 Montmorenci Avenue, from 12 Noon to 8 PM for a neighborhood event.
  • Prince Street, Jamaica Plain, will be closed to traffic between #11 and #88 Prince Street, from 5 PM to 8 PM for a neighborhood event.

Wednesday, August 3, through Sunday, August 7

The Saint Agrippina Feast will take place in the North End.  Streets to be closed to traffic are Hanover Street, between Charter and Commercial Streets; and Battery Street, between Hanover and Commercial Streets.  On Wednesday, these streets will be closed from 5 PM to 12 AM.  Thursday through Sunday, these streets will be closed from 9 AM to 12 AM.

Temporary “No Stopping Boston Police Special Event Wednesday through Sunday” parking restrictions will be:

  • Hanover Street, both sides, Charter Street to Commercial Street
  • Battery Street, both sides, Hanover Street to Commercial Street
  • Commercial Street, even side, Henchman Street to Battery Street

Wednesday, August 3, Friday, August 5, and Sunday, August 7

Concerts taking place at Fenway Park will require temporary “No Stopping Boston Police Special Event Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, 2 PM to 11:59 PM” parking restrictions as follows.

  • Brookline Avenue, both sides, Brookline Avenue to Yawkey Way Extension
  • Overland Street, even side, Brookline Avenue to Yawkey Way Extension
  • Boylston Street, south side, opposite Ipswich Street to Brookline Avenue
  • Lansdowne Street, both sides, Brookline Avenue to Ipswich Street
  • Ipswich Street, Fenway Park side, Lansdowne Street to Boylston Street
  • Van Ness Street, both sides, Ipswich Street to Kilmarnock Street
  • Yawkey Way, both sides, Van Ness Street to Brookline Avenue
  • Richard B. Ross Way, both sides, Van Ness Street to Boylston Street

As well as “Tow Zone No Parking Reserved for HP-DV Parking Only Wednesday, Friday and Sunday” as follows.

  • Boylston Street, north side, Ipswich Street to Kilmarnock Street
  • Yawkey Way, both sides, Boylston Street to Van Ness Street
  • Overland Street, odd side, Brookline Avenue to Yawkey Way Extension

 

TD strongly suggests that people attending these events refrain from driving their personal vehicles into the city.  Try Hubway, the regional bike-share service, or take the the MBTA. For a faster return trip, the MBTA advises riders to purchase a round trip rather than a one-way ticket.
