FCC Shared Services Licensing Support Program

Family Child Care (FCC) providers are essential to Boston. The FCC Shared Services Licensing Support Program provides business support for individuals who would like to open a FCC business.

Our goal is to expand high quality early education and care across Boston by helping individuals plan their next course of action to successfully open a FCC business in Boston.  The FCC Shared Services Licensing Support Program will help new FCC businesses meet the needs of Boston's children and families. Selected applicants will receive grant funding, individual coaching sessions to meet milestones, and certification and licensing support.

In a virtual small group community of practice meeting every two weeks, participants will receive support to open a new FCC business. Topics include:

  • Certification and licensing requirements
  • Accessing the subsidy system 
  • Business setup and registration support
  • Marketing and technology support 
  • Family Child Care Finance resources
  • Business and curriculum resources

The program will award grantees a laptop from Tech Goes Home and $1,000 in materials to support your business. Grantees will attend virtual small group community of practice meetings every two weeks, anticipated time to meet licensing milestones: 3-6 months

The application deadline for this funding round is 5 p.m. on or before June 23rd

Workshop dates:

Applicants selected will attend an orientation the evening of Thursday, June 29th and meetings every other Thursday via Zoom starting July 20th and running through early December, 2023.  Meetings are held at 6:30 in the evening

Yes, applicants must live in Boston and plan to open their Family Childcare Business in the city of Boston. 

 It varies from person to person, but it usually takes 3 to 6 months. 

The program will provide different resources to support you in opening your family childcare business in Boston. However, we cannot guarantee that you will receive a license from the EEC. 

Both the community meetings and the coaching sessions will be virtual.
