As a life-long youth worker, Elijah is very passionate about advancing social justice and positively impacting the lives of youth in Boston - especially those who live in underserved, under-resourced communities. Thanks to family and a long list of incredible mentors, he grew up inspired by the words and actions of extraordinary human rights leaders like Nelson Mandela who once said, ‘To be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.” Elijah is a testament to the leadership development pathways created at Bikes Not Bombs, having served in multiple roles across the organization - from youth participant to youth director to Board member and now as Executive Director. He returned to lead the organization in 2017 after becoming a Social Studies teacher through Teach for America (TFA) - spending three years in the classroom in Chelsea and Brookline. In almost two decades at Bikes Not Bombs, Elijah has seen what it means to help build a community where all voices are heard, where people of all races, ethnicities, genders, ages, and abilities know that they matter and harness the power to drive meaningful change in their own lives and in their own communities.

Elijah has a dual B.A. in Africana Studies and Hispanic Studies from the University of Massachusetts and has a Certificate in Nonprofit Management and Leadership from Boston University’s Questrom School of Business. He is an avid cyclist, bike mechanic and plays the steel pan.
