Lauryn Sharp serves as the project archaeologist for grant-funded research at the City Archaeology Program.  

Primarily, Lauryn works on sorting, cataloging, inventory and re-housing of grant-funded archaeological collections, while also assisting and supervising volunteers. She specializes in indigenous and 17th-20th century archaeological artifacts spanning the mid-Atlantic and New England regions. Her research interests include historic ceramics, archival work, and 18th century New England history.

Before joining the city archaeology program in May 2019, she worked for the William & Mary Center for Archaeological Research, participating in cultural resource management compliance fieldwork.

Lauryn received her bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from James Madison University in 2016 and is currently working towards earning her master’s degree in Historical Archaeology from the University of Massachusetts Boston, focusing on 18th century urban craftsmanship.

Originally from Newton, Lauryn was raised in the Richmond, Virginia area. She currently resides in Jamaica Plain and enjoys traveling, antiquing, hiking, birding and watching hockey with her husband, Andrew.
