Under the supervision of the Chief of Worker Empowerment and the Chief of Staff, the Program and Administrative Specialist will coordinate inter-agency scheduling, projects and events, coordinate procurement and other essential operational efforts for the agency, administrative, grants and fiscal support, scheduling, project planning and coordination, and follow up on Worker Empowerment and OWD programs and related policies.
Salary Range: $73,205.00 To 85,000.00 Annually
Each year, the Mayor’s Office of Workforce Development (OWD) funds a set of community-based organizations to provide job training and wraparound services to eligible youth. Under the direction of the Assistant Deputy Director for Grants Management, the WIOA Youth Compliance Specialist will assist youth providers in funded programming in Boston with determining client eligibility for the grant and maintaining the required documentation for those clients enrolled, as well as entering all required data in the state's database. Key responsibilities will include document eligibility review, implementing required assessments, services and outcomes documentation through individual service plans, entering data monthly and providing ongoing communication and technical assistance to funded organizations. The WIOA Compliance Specialist will perform weekly MOSES data entry support to OWD staff, and support to other department tasks and priorities as assigned.
Salary Range:$60,500.00 To 69,575.00 Annually
Under the direction of the Director of the Center for Working Families (CWF), the Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for outreach, recruitment, and administrative efforts supporting the department. This includes acting as a liaison for the CWF and conducting orientation sessions and workshops; building partnerships and maintaining relationships with community stakeholders and residents; drafting outreach and marketing materials; attending community and city-wide meetings, representing the CWF as needed; and following up on the CWF administrative tasks as required.
Salary Range:$60,000.00 To 65,000.00 Annually
Under the direction of the Chief of Worker Empowerment, identify and develop funding resources to support youth and adult workforce development, education, juvenile justice, worker protections and youth development programs; research, design and develop plans for programs; coordinate research projects with institutions, agencies and the Cabinet’s research department; and maintain current knowledge of needs of Boston labor market and educational systems as related to youth and adults. The Senior Policy Manager will also review and determine the efficacy of existing programs and policies related to labor standards, worker protection, health and safety, and to make recommendations to the Chief and Deputy Chiefs of the Worker Empowerment Cabinet on enhancing and improving current municipal and state policies related to promoting workers’ protection, health and safety.
Salary Range: $78,000.00 To 87,000.00 Annually
Under the direction of the Director of Research, Evaluation, and Analytics, the Data Analyst and Learning Specialist will provide data, research, and strategic analysis to support the Learning Lab research and evaluation activities.

The Mayor’s Office of Workforce Development, an agency within the City of Boston’s Worker Empowerment Cabinet, is responsible for grant-making to a range of workforce development programs, including job training, English language classes, adult education and youth employment. In addition, the Office engages in research and evaluation to build the field of workforce development, provides technical assistance to grantees, and advises City policymakers on issues related to our field of work. We seek an experience Assistant Deputy Director for Grants and Procurement to oversee pre-awards grants management.
Under the direction of the Director of Grants, manage all aspects of the pre-award phase of the agency’s grant-making; undertake research, design and develop plans for programs; manage annual and special procurement processes; identify and develop funding resources and maintain current knowledge and developments in workforce development issues.

The Assistant Director of Policy – Worker Empowerment’s primary role is to review and determine the efficacy of existing programs and policies related to labor standards, worker protection, health and safety, and to make recommendations to the Chief and Deputy Chiefs of the Worker Empowerment Cabinet on enhancing and improving current municipal and state policies related to promoting workers’ protection, health and safety. The Assistant Director of Policy – Worker Empowerment will also help lay the groundwork for new legislation and programs to fill existing needs or tackle future issues related to labor standards and compliance, and worker safety, health and protection. The staff will also raise awareness for other related social programs and issues that need improvement in the area of workforce development and labor standards.
Salary Range: $80,526.00 To 92,604.00 Annually
Under the direction of the Chief of Worker Empowerment WE; Director of Operations, Office Workforce Development (OWD); or their designees, manage the development and implementation of programming for case management services, transitional employment and career services, alternative education and out-of-school youth programs in collaboration with City, community and law enforcement agencies as well as the Boston Public Schools. Collaborate to ensure the success of the YOU Boston initiative in meeting its objective of increasing the employment rate for 14 to 24 year old court-involved/high risk youth and, where possible, assisting them in obtaining career focused opportunities. Supervise coordinator level case management and career development staff; assist the Chief in securing new financial resources, developing new partnerships and improving the service delivery systems of the programs. Collaborate with other WE departments where possible. This position will also receive guidance from Deputy Chief of Youth Employment and Opportunity.
Salary Range: $97,436.00 To 112,051.00 Annually
To help connect low-income Boston residents to job skills training, post-secondary education, and financial resources that facilitate economic opportunities and financial stability, the Data Systems and Evaluation VISTA member will increase the overall evaluative capacity of Office of Workforce Development’s (OWD) new and developing programs. This role will focus on refining existing and creating new data collection tools and processes, improving qualitative and quantitative data collection practices and data quality, assisting with tracking participants’ progress throughout program and post program completion, including creating feedback loops that will facilitate a cycle of community input and responsive program improvement.
The VISTA will provide evaluation support for key programs including Boston Saves, City Academy, and Tuition Free Community College. This role is an excellent fit for someone interested in learning more about program design, evaluation and data management in public agencies.
PowerCorpsBOS is Boston's green jobs training program centering opportunity youth / disconnected young people and returning citizens. A Crew Leader is responsible for the daily leadership, direction, support and supervision of approximately ten Corps members. The Crew Leader serves as a supervisor, motivator, leader, guide, role model, and mentor to the Corps members and is responsible for the crew’s overall service performance and safety. The Crew Leader is the primary point of contact and reports to the Program Director and Project Manager(s).
