September Author Talks and Lectures at Boston Public Library Locations
Boston Public Library will host author talks and a range of lectures during the month of September. Highlights from across the library system include:
- Bestselling author Sue Miller will read from her new novel The Arsonist on Tuesday, September 9, at 6:30 p.m. at the South End Branch at 685 Tremont Street. Part of the South End Writes series.
- City Archaeologist Joe Bagley explores how the 30,000 artifacts discovered at recent dig sites shed light on over three centuries of daily life in the North End on Wednesday, September 10, at 6 p.m. in the Abbey Room at the Central Library in Copley Square, located at 700 Boylston Street.
- Boston Public Library staff member and East Boston native John DeVito speaks about Jackie Kennedy and how her legend lives on in popular culture on Thursday, September 11, at 6:30 p.m. at the East Boston Branch, located at 365 Bremen Street.
- Local author Paula Guerard reads from and discusses her new book, MaryLou Found a Really Big Shoe on Saturday, September 13, at 2 p.m. at the Adams Street Branch at 690 Adams Street in Dorchester.
- Karen Cord Taylor celebrates the people who have had a memorable impact on the Beacon Hill neighborhood throughout its 200-plus year history in Legendary Locals of Beacon Hill on Thursday, September 25, at 6:30 p.m. at the West End Branch, located at 151 Cambridge Street.
- Historians Karen Corsano and Daniel Williman shed new light on John Singer Sargent’s art through an intimate history of his family in John Singer Sargent and His Muse. Monday, September 29, at 6 p.m. in the Abbey Room at the Central Library in Copley Square, located at 700 Boylston Street.
- Noah Wilson-Rich, author of The Bee: A Natural History speaks about the importance of bees to the economy and reproduction of flowering plants on Tuesday, September 30, at 6 p.m. in the Commonwealth Salon at the Central Library in Copley Square, located at 700 Boylston Street.
