LinkedInsights: Amanda Chajon
In our new COB #LinkedInSights series, we introduce real City employees to provide a snapshot of who they are, what they do, and why they serve the City of Boston — so you can read, learn, connect, and grow your network one impactful public servant at a time.
Building a thoughtful and actionable professional network on LinkedIn can seem daunting. Who should you connect with and why? And how do you build a connection with the person behind the profile?
In this month’s edition of COB #LinkedInSights, we sit down with Amanda Chajon, Administrative Secretary for the Office of the City Clerk .
⭕ What do you like to be called?
Amanda
⭕ What is your job title?
Administrative Secretary for the Office of the City Clerk
⭕ How long have you worked for the City?
Since March of 2018! I have held two roles at the City. Prior to working in the City Clerk’s Office, I worked in the Registry.
⭕ What keeps you motivated at work?
My boys. I have 3! I have their pictures on my computer and by my desk. I like to come home with stories!
⭕ What is your favorite part about working for the city?
Genuinely, I love seeing so many different people from so many different walks of life coming in to start their next chapter. A lot of what I do is registering businesses and I love getting to see people begin a new journey.
⭕ WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS CAREER PATH?
I don’t feel like I chose it, it kind of chose me. It just so happened that I landed in the City during my application process and I've been here ever since!
⭕ do you have a piece of advice for others?
Don’t take anything personally because you never know what has happened before you talk to somebody.
⭕ FUN FACT?
I’m pretty good at dominos and I probably take it way more seriously than I should.
⭕ What are some things that you like to do outside of work?
I like roller skating. I am also the team MOMager for my kids' soccer teams!
⭕ Coffee order?
It depends on where I am ordering from. But in true Boston fashion, it will always be iced.
