Americans with Disabilities Act celebration day

We're celebrating the 28th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

This free event is for children, families, and individuals of all abilities!

ADA Celebration Day is a yearly celebration of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act. It is held in Boston around the last week of July near the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act signing. Each year, we honor a local organization that has made an impact on accessibility or inclusion in Boston. ADA Celebration Day is an event for people of all ages and all abilities to come together and celebrate a milestone in the disability community.

Join us for food, music, a resource fair, friends, and fun. ASL and CART provided. This is a scent free event. For additional accommodation requests, call 617-635-3682 or email disability@boston.gov.

For attendees who would like to be more involved on ADA Celebration Day, there are volunteer opportunities available. On the day of the event, we are seeking volunteers to help with greeting and directing attendees, handing out T-shirts, set up and break down of tables and chairs, and answering general questions. Volunteers are asked to help from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. We will provide lunch.

Come join us for a workshop where you'll have the opportunity to incubate your idea and get it ready for the world. 

We’ll cover:
  • best practices for effective crowdfunding that we’ve learned from supporting 1,500+ successful resident-led, neighbor-funded campaigns
  • top tips on building your fundraising team, connecting with new donors, and donor follow up, illustrated with real-life examples
  • an overview of ioby’s platform and services, and
  • Q&A with ioby's grassroots fundraising experts

About Community Made

With Community Made, the City of Boston is partnering with ioby.org to support residents in creating their own community projects. ioby is a nonprofit crowdfunding platform that can provide community advocates with one-to-one coaching on project scoping and fundraising, access to their online crowdfunding platform, and, if applicable, fiscal sponsorship using ioby's 501(c)3 nonprofit designation.

This pilot is a partnership between the Mayor's Office of Resilience and Racial EquityLove Your Block, the Mayor's Office of New Urban Mechanics, and ioby.org. All submissions must abide by legal and community standards and are subject to review by ioby before posting. This work is funded by a grant from Bloomberg Philanthropies and is informed by the strategic plans Resilient Boston: A Connected and Equitable City and Imagine Boston: 2030.
