Mattahunt Woods Urban Wild consists of forested wetlands in Mattapan. Today, portions of Mattahunt Woods are impacted by dumping of construction debris and automobile parts as well as invasive plants, but there are still healthy plant communities and wetlands.

The City of Boston is working to restore Mattahunt Woods' natural ecosystem while making it a place for residents to enjoy.

Join us for a virtual open house on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at 6:00 - 7:30 pm. We will share information about the project, present initial design concepts for the site, and collect your feedback.

From tackling the climate crisis to advancing environmental justice, public servants at the local, state, and federal levels of government help protect people and the environment while making our communities more resilient.

All are welcome to join the Environmental Protection Agency, the City of Boston, and other partners for an environmental public service career fair at UMass Boston or online on Thursday, March 30th from 2:00 – 5:00pm.

At the fair, you will learn about careers in environmental public service, speak with staff from environmental agencies in New England, and meet the people behind the work. (Online participants will be able to listen to speakers and drop into breakout rooms to network, too.)

During the fair, you will hear from environmental leaders about how they got their start in environmental work – and about why public service matters to them. If you’re interested in exploring or advancing your career in environmental public service, please join us on March 30th.

Featured speakers (starting at 2:30pm) include:

  • Bob Chen, Professor and Interim Dean of the School for the Environment, UMass Boston
