Luis Ottonelli

Neighborhood Business Manager

Luis Ottonelli is the new Business Neighborhood Manager for the City of Boston under the Office of Economic Opportunity and Inclusion (OEOI). He covers the neighborhoods of; Chinatown, Egleston Square, and Jamaica Plain Center/South.

He connects, supports, and assists all small business owners under the premises of equality, accessibility, and inclusivity to expand the economy that will serve All Boston.

Throughout his professional career, he has worked globally and locally in the banking business, supporting clients with loans, mortgages, and investments. He was a Business Manager at a large bank in East Boston, where he learned the needs of the Spanish community and how to support the small businesses in the area. Later he moved to the Boston Public Health Commission, where he managed grants and participated in programs to decrease infant mortality in the City of Boston in the black population. After a complete change in his career, he worked at the Department of unemployment, making resolutions on applicants for unemployment and finally returning to the City to support the grantees at the Age Stong Commission. He was surrounded by the candor of many "Age Strongers" that still remember him for his support and kindness.

In August 2021, Luis joined the new office of Small Businesses at the OEOI, serving a diverse and distinct business environment in each neighborhood he oversees. He has vast experience in the restaurant and catering business from Argentina and Boston.

He is originally from a small town in Argentina and a “transplanted” resident of Jamaica Plain, a community gardener aficionado, and a volunteer for the JPHistorical society offering tours in Spanish during weekends to keep the vibrancy of the LatinX JP neighborhood and All.

Luis holds a Social Impact MBA from the Boston University Questrom School of Business. He is applying many concepts in his new role and always looking for ways to impact the community with his humble collaboration.
