Amira Madison

Supporting Indigenous Communities Fellow

Amira is interested in the unique ways people navigate the world we live in today. She loves listening to their stories about adventures, family histories, personal interests, and experiences. Her goal is to create a safe space for people to share and connect so that we can create good relations.

Originally from Boston, Amira was raised on the island of Martha’s Vineyard. She is an enrolled member of the Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head Aquinnah and currently sits as a Councilwoman on Tribal Council. Over the years she’s worked hard to serve the Indigenous community in many capacities. She was the Tribal Youth Coordinator for the Wampanoag Tribe, a Docent at the Aquinnah Cultural Center, and served two consecutive terms as the Female Co-President of United National Indian Tribal Youth, Inc. (UNITY). She has spent time being present in many native spaces and believes that we should be prioritizing youth, elders, and our planet.

Amira graduated from Northeastern University with a bachelor’s degree in History and a minor in International Affairs. She continues to be a history nerd, is an avid traveler, and has accepted tacos as her love language!
